Ramadan Quran Fluency Workshop | Level 3

Timing: Mondays, Tuesdays & Saturdays: 10:00 am CST

Wednesdays, Thursdays & Sundays: 3:30 pm CST


Description:

We are committed to helping you be able to perfect your recitation of the words of Allah (swt) this Ramadan. This workshop will provide a daily reading circle for tajwid learners to perfect their recitation of the Holy Quran. Students will take turns reading portions of Quran under the guidance of an ijazah certified instructor who will help correct recitation, pronunciation, and precise application of the rules of tajwid.

Placement: This workshop is for students who can read the Holy Quran fluently and have learned all of the tajwid rules. A placement test is not required for this workshop. Within the first week, the instructor or students may choose to switch to a higher or lower level.

Prerequisites:

  1. Students should be women above the age of 17.
  2. TAJ 101 & 102: Quran Fluency | Parts 1 & 2
  3. TAJ 201: "Tajwīd Part 1: Rules & Rhythm of Recitation".
  4. TAJ 202: “Tajwīd Part 2: Rules & the Rhythm of Recitation”
  5. ARA 100: “Introduction to Arabic”
  6. Arabic Level 1: ARA 101, 102, 103, 104
  7. Ability to read the Holy Quran fluently.
  8. Knowledge of the points of articulation (makhārij), letter attributes (ṣifāt), and all tajwīd rules.

    Course Requirements: 

    1. This is an online course so students will need access to internet. An internet speed of at least 2 Mbps is recommended for best performance. 
    2. To access the live class, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the Zoom app.
    3. Headphones, camera and microphone will be required for in-class participation. 
    4. Sessions will not be recorded. Live attendance is required at least one day per week and up to 7 days per week.

Students will take turns reading portions of Quran under the guidance of an ijazah certified instructor who will help correct recitation and pronunciation.

    Placement: This workshop is for students who can read the Arabic alphabet, tashkil symbols (harakat), and connected words and letters, but have not yet learned any rules of tajwid. A placement test is not required for this workshop. Within the first week, the instructor or students may choose to switch to a higher or lower level.

    Prerequisites:

    1. Students should be women above the age of 17.
    2. ARA 100 or equivalent knowledge.
    3. Students enrolling in this course should have a cursory knowledge of the names, shapes and sounds of Arabic letters, as well as the ability to read and write the Arabic script. An understanding of grammar or any vocabulary is not needed.

    Course Requirements: 

    1. This is an online course so students will need access to internet. An internet speed of at least 2 Mbps is recommended for best performance.

    Mystic Beats Drumming | Jan-Feb 2021

    Dates: Jan. 25-Feb. 22    Time: Mondays, 10:30 am CST/4:30 pm UK

    Length: 5 weeks (approximately 7.5 hours)

    Description:

    An opportunity to join an online interactive platform where you will learn about the role of the daff drum in Islamic history, have an opportunity to try out several daff beats and experience how to apply them to your favorite nasheeds. Come forward and join us in singing the praises of Allah (swt) and His Beloved (saw) in a fun and melodious way!     

    By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to apply the daff beat to at least 3 nasheeds (2 provided by the instructor and 1 chosen by the student).

    Sessions:

    Week 1 - History of the daff, its healing aspect, how to hold the daff, introduction to basic beat stroke   

    Week 2 - forming the beats and playing at different paces, singing practice, applying the beats to the nasheeds   

    Week 3 – Continuing to apply the beats to the nasheeds, teamwork and performing in teams (healthy competition!)

    Week 4 – Playing an enhanced beat on the nasheeds  

    Week 5 – Applying the beat to the learner’s chosen nasheed, teaching extra tips and creativity with the daff  

    Prerequisites: Registrants should be women aged 17 or older.

    Course Requirements: Classes last approximately 1.5 hours each. Live attendance is required and students will need to be on camera. Sessions will not be recorded. This is an online course so students will need:

    1.      Access to reliable internet. An internet speed of at least 2 Mbps is recommended for best performance.

    2.      Headphones, camera and microphone will be required for in-class participation.

    3.      Live classes can be viewed on a computer or handheld device using the Zoom app.
