Offered: This is a new course!

Prerequisites: 

  1. Students should be women above the age of 17.

  2. Successful completion of Arabic Grammar Level 2A and 2B or equivalent knowledge

  3. Successful completion of Arabic Conversation Level 2A and 2B or equivalent knowledge

  4. Successful completion of TAF 301.

Course Description: This course is an introduction to the study of tafsīr. Sūrat al-Fātiḥah and other short chapters of the Quran will be studied in-depth. As students take a close look at the ways different mufassirūn have handled the interpretation of the same chapter, they will gain insight into the science of tafsīr and how it has developed through the centuries.

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the online lectures, complete one or more weekly assignments, read the assigned material, write a term paper, and review and sit for a final exam.
This is an online course so students will need:

  • Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance. 

  • Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation. 

  • To access the live class and recordings, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the AdobeConnect app.

Registration Fee: Non-refundable, non-transferable
Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until June 1st, 2021.

  • $200.00 (not including the cost of the course materials)

  • $20.00 late registration fee after January 8th (if seats are available)

  • Auditing is not available for Level 3 courses.

Text: No textbook is required for this course. Readings will be provided by the instructor through the course forum.

Offered: This course is offered continuously over a full year. Classes do not stop during the regular semester breaks, but students need to re-enroll in each subsequent part.

Prerequisites

  1. Students should be women above the age of 17.
  2. Successful completion of all Ribaat Level 1 and Level 2 Core course.
  3. Successful completion of at least one Ribaat elective.
  4. SIR 301, 302 and 401.

Course Description: A continuation of the Level 3 Sira courses, this course continues the study of the life of Prophet Muhammad (s) in detail. In Parts 3 and 4, the course will examine the major events and incidents that took place after the hijra to Medina, extrapolating the wisdom and lessons one can gain from them. Weekly assignments focus on these lessons learned, enabling students to draw parallels to modern day struggles in their own lives and make lasting changes, following in the footsteps of the Prophet (s).

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the weekly online lectures, complete one or more weekly assignments, read the assigned material, complete a term project, and review and sit for a final exam.

This is an online course so students will need:

  1. Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance. 
  2. Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation. 
  3. To access the live class, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the AdobeConnect app. 
  4. To access recordings of the sessions on a smart device, students may need to install the Puffin or Photon browser.

Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until December 31st, 2020.
