Offered: This course is offered in the Fall term of each year.

Prerequisites

      • Students should be women above the age of 17 who work with (or plan to work with) Muslim youth at Islamic schools, programs, or weekend schools.
      • Successful completion of at least one Level 1 Ribaat course.

Summary: This introductory level course provides aspiring and veteran teachers opportunities to learn and practice effective teaching strategies for elementary-aged students enrolled in Islamic Studies programs.  During this course we will examine components of skillful teaching including lesson planning, classroom management, instructional strategies, assessment, professionalism, motivation, and upbringing within an Islamic framework. By the end of the course, students will be expected to plan, teach, and assess a sample lesson plan to accommodate elementary-aged Muslim students and complete a research paper on an effective instructional strategy.

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the weekly online lectures, complete one or more weekly assignments, read the assigned material, write one lesson plan and one research paper, and prepare for and deliver an online lesson.

Offered: This program is offered once a year, starting in the Fall term.

Prerequisites: Students should be women above the age of 17 who work with (or plan to work with) Muslim youth at Islamic schools, programs, or weekend schools.

Summary:

The Islamic Studies Teacher Enrichment Program (iSTEP) is a professional development opportunity for weekend school/Islamic studies school teachers which includes four Ribaat courses. The goal of the program is to equip teachers with the necessary tools to teach effectively in their communities. These courses include:

      • Foundations, Flounderings & Faith: a course that offers a broad overview of the Islamic worldview
      • Companions of the Prophet, Parts 1 & 2: which offers a spiritual foundation
      • Teaching Skills and Methodology: a basic teaching methodology course. Students will be able to choose their course preference, either Elementary or Teen.

Course Requirements: For each of the four courses included, students are expected to attend the weekly online lectures, complete weekly assignments as assigned by the instructors, read the assigned material, write a research paper or complete a project, and review and sit for a final exam.

Registration Fee: Non-refundable, non-transferable

$300.00 (not including the cost of the course materials)

دراسة معمقة لحياة 30 صحابي وصحابية المطروحة في كتاب نجوم في فلك النبوة. ستدرس الطالبات قصصهم وسيصلن لاستنتاجاتٍ عن مفاهيم إسلامية مستخلصة من تجارب الصحابة الحياتية وسيربطن هذه القصص بحياة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم بهدف الحصول على حكم تنطبق على شخصياتهن .

متطلّبات المادة:
مطلوب من الطالبات حضور الحصص الأسبوعية التي تبثّ مباشرة عبر الانترنت، إنجاز واجباّ أسبوعياً أو أكثر حسب طلب المدرّسة، قراءة الصفحات المطلوبة قبل الحصة، كتابة مقالة تحليلية حول إحدى الصحابة في الكتاب، وتقديم امتحاناَ نهائياَ.

Prerequisites: Students should be women above the age of 17.

Summary: This course has two main goals. It is designed to help students become comfortable giving daʿwa in any situation - from intimate gatherings to public addresses to chatting with people on the street. It also provides students with ideas and experience in hosting outreach events in their own communities. Assignments will consist of communication exercises, and the final will be to plan and hold a daʿwa event, at which the student will speak.

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the weekly online lectures, complete one or more weekly assignments, read the assigned material, and host and speak at a daʿwa event.

Registration Fee: Non-refundable, non-transferable
