Classes last approximately 1.5 hours each. Live attendance is highly recommended for Arabic courses to achieve full benefit and required for conversation courses. Recordings of the sessions will be made available for registered students who cannot attend live.

Offered: This course is offered in the Fall term of each year.


  • Students enrolling in the program must be women above the age of 17.
  • Arabic Grammar Level 2B or equivalent knowledge. Students should be well acquainted with basic and intermediate grammatical constructs and be confident in identifying and using these.
  • Arabic Conversation Level 2B or equivalent knowledge.

Course Description: This level takes students well into the domain of intermediate Arabic grammar, solidifying and consolidating knowledge from previous levels and building on their reading and writing skills through application of grammar to texts and their own writing. The use of a root dictionary as a tool to aid comprehension is also stressed at this level. Students will work on their translation skills by analyzing a variety of texts, without diacritical markings.

Placement: If you are unsure about your level, email to request a placement test. Once you have submitted and tests have been assessed, you will receive a recommendation for the appropriate course for your level.  

Course Requirements: Students are expected to attend the weekly online lectures, complete one or more weekly assignments as assigned by the instructor, and review and sit for a midterm and a final exam.
